Handwoven willow coffin Production Process
Our willow coffins are crafted following a traditional, time-honoured workflow, from harvesting raw willow canes all the way to the final hand-weaving.
We begin by carefully harvesting mature willow branches at the optimal season. After cutting, the willow stalks are cleaned and undergo natural steaming and peeling treatment to strip off the outer bark. This step reveals the smooth, pale inner wood, softens the cane, and makes the material flexible enough for weaving, while preserving its natural toughness and durability.
The prepared willow canes are then sorted by length, thickness and quality. Skilled artisans hand-weave the prepared willow canes one by one, using classic interlacing techniques to shape the basket base, walls and rims. Every joint and weave is tightened manually to ensure the finished coffin has a sturdy, stable structure.
Once weaving is complete, the coffins go through finishing checks: trimming rough edges, surface cleaning and quality inspection. Only pieces that meet our strict standards are selected for shipment.
Each coffins carries the texture of natural willow and the craftsmanship of hand weaving, delivering rustic, eco-friendly charm for your home storage and decor needs.
